Starting with the car loan: a lower purchase price usually means noticeably lower monthly repayments and lower interest costs. On top of that, there is often cheaper car insurance, as smaller and more affordable vehicles often fit better into the overall cost calculation.
A rough example: €6,000 to €10,000 less purchase price can quickly save around €800 to €1,200 per year in financing and depreciation. Insurance can add another €200 to €500 per year, depending on the model. The difference becomes even greater if you skip a large second car and instead hire one when needed: if the extra storage space is only required for <strong>one holiday per year, a hire car is usually much cheaper than the ongoing costs of another vehicle. Overall, €1,500 to €2,000 in savings per year are realistic.
