Variants in the same range

The Mazda MX-5 is mainly offered as a convertible. There is, however, also an RF version (Retractable Fastback), which has a fixed roof that can be electronically folded back. Boot capacity

The boot space of the Mazda MX-5 Convertible is about 130 litres. This is typical for a car in this class, but limited when it comes to transporting larger items of luggage. The boot opening is relatively narrow, which makes loading larger items more difficult. Nevertheless, the MX-5 offers sufficient room for two travel bags or a few smaller purchases, which is acceptable for a roadster.

The Toyota GR86, on the other hand, has a capacity of about 226 litres, which also offers more space. These differences are decisive for buyers who value storage space.

More affordable alternatives

Less expensive models with similar boot dimensions are the Fiat 124 Spider and the Ford Mustang (in base specification). The Fiat 124 Spider offers a boot capacity of about 140 litres, which makes it slightly roomier than the MX-5. The Ford Mustang does have a larger overall volume, but the boot is not as compact as the MX-5’s for a sports car in this price range. These alternatives offer a similar size, but the transport options and overall driving experience vary considerably.
