Model information

The Tesla Model S is a fully electric saloon car that first went on sale in 2012. The latest generation offers a combination of high performance, cutting-edge technology and elegant styling. With a range of up to 650 km (depending on variant) and impressive acceleration figures, the Model S is suitable for both everyday use and long journeys. The interior is minimalist and technologically advanced, with a large touchscreen that controls most of the functions.

Variants in the same lineup

The Tesla Model S is primarily offered as a saloon. However, there are various variants that differ in performance and equipment, such as the Model S Long Range and the Model S Plaid. These variants should not be confused, as they offer different drivetrains and ranges. There are currently no convertible or estate versions of the Model S.

Model year differences

The Tesla Model S has undergone several model-year changes over the years. The most significant changes affecting the car’s dimensions and boot space occurred in 2021, when the vehicle received a facelift. These changes included a revision of the design and interior, but the fundamental boot space remained largely unchanged. In earlier years there were smaller adjustments, which did not have a significant impact on boot space.

Direct competition

The direct competitors of the Tesla Model S include the Porsche Taycan and the Lucid Air. The Porsche Taycan offers a boot space of around 407 litres, which is noticeably less than that of the Model S. The Lucid Air, by contrast, has a boot space of around 739 litres, which is also below that of the Model S. These differences make the Model S an attractive option for buyers who require a lot of storage space.

Cheaper alternatives

Cheaper alternatives with similar boot space include the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 offers a boot space of around 531 litres, while the Kia EV6 offers around 490 litres. Both models are cheaper than the Model S and still provide ample space for luggage and other transport needs, but not to the same extent as the Model S.
